My personal nits or head lice prevention and treatment protocol:

When my children went to school, I made a lice prevention and treatment using Tea Tree oil.

As a prevention, I would add a few drops of Tea Tree Oil along with a few drops of Lavender Oil (for the scent) into a ‘Leave in Conditioner’, spray onto hair and comb through to prevent lice.

My treatment (if they had lice) was to add Tea Tree Oil into conditioner.  I used a lot of conditioner and completely covered the hair.  This pretty much suffocated any lice that were on the head.  This was left on the hair for about 15 minutes.  I then combed the hair (with the conditioner still in) with a lice comb (also called nit comb) which would remove any eggs.  The hair was then rinsed completely.  It really works well!

Killing Parasites

Along with Thyme oil and Oregano oil, Tea tree oil is another essential oil that has antiparasitic properties as well. Studies on tea tree oil show that it appears to have a lethal effect on parasite larvae.

Parasites release certain enzymes to change their environment, which in turn damages their host. Interestingly, tea tree oil helps to block the enzymes that parasites release which can help protect you and also help you expel parasites and regain your health.

One of the keys to getting rid of parasites is to break down the biofilm that parasites use to protect themselves and stay hidden from your immune system. Tea tree oil may disrupt biofilm, and may also improve immune system response to parasites as well.
